History The five-star Villa Marilor Hotel was once a small palace which has the status of an architectural monument. Its unique name is a tribute to one of the owners, Maria Eleonora. It was built in 1912 for the Szczeniowski family and housed an elegant boarding house until World War II. It combines typical features of the local building style of Zakopane with Tirol architecture which refer to the best traditions of famous European spas. After World War II, the building frequently changed owners, and, among others, was used as a holiday resort for the leaders of the Communist youth organisation ZMP. Between 1956 and being passed back into private hands at the end of 1990s, Villa Marilor housed the famous Kenar Fine Arts Lycee |
Due to the lack of funds for conservation works, the building started to slowly fall into degradation. Its present owner ZETWU INWEST HOTELE MARILOR Sp. z o.o. thoroughly renovated it between 2000-2001 that has restored it to its former grandeur. Since its gala opening on September 29, 2001, Villa Marilor has been operating in its original capacity as a guest house offering traditional hospitality typical for residents of Zakopane. |
